Brentford’s head of medical staff has confirmed that Spaniard Jota will remain sidelined until at least November.

The winger was injured in a clash with former Bees midfielder Jonathan Douglas in the opening day draw with Ipswich.

And Greig has shed some light on the ankle ligament damage, with Jota undergoing surgery on Tuesday (18 August).

"Unfortunately the outcome of this assessment is that Jota will require surgery to repair an ankle ligament injury and is likely to take around 12 weeks to recover," he said.

In what has been an incredibly busy couple of months for the medical staff, the doctor also confirmed the status of club record signing Andreas Bjelland .

"Following his injury against Oxford United last Tuesday and consultations with orthopaedic specialists in the UK and Denmark, Andreas will undergo reconstructive knee surgery on Wednesday (19 August) in London."

He added: "He is likely to miss the remainder of the season."

Former Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran has not undergone surgery, although Greig warns that the former England youth international remains out for at least another nine weeks.

Recovery: James Tarkowski should be available shortly

Scott Hogan remains on course with his rehabilitation, without a time scale, while Lewis McLeod may join in first-team training in September.

In brighter news for the Bees, Marcos Tebar, Nico Yennaris and James Tarkowski should be back in training shortly.

Tebar, recovering from a hamstring injury, should be back in first-team training before the international break, while Yennaris will resume full training by next week.

Tarkowski, who suffered a displaced nose fracture against Bristol City, will be assessed for any further damage but should be available for selection shortly.
