Lasse Vibe is a 'role model' to the Brentford squad, according to head coach Dean Smith.

The Dane spent the first half of the season playing second fiddle to Scott Hogan, scoring just two goals.

However, since the striker's departure to Aston Villa, Vibe led the line with aplomb and overhauled Hogan's tally, for both Bees and Villans, to finish with 16 goals in all competition.

After Alan McCormack's departure, the Danish international is now the most experienced player in the dressing room and someone the squad looks up to.

Smith said: “He's a role model to the players in the dressing room. He's an intelligent young man.

“The 16 goals may have surprised a few but it hasn't surprised me. I believe he can go and do that.

“At the start of the season we had Scott Hogan who was doing that but Lasse, for me, can always score goals and play in a couple of other positions that Scott couldn't. He's done really well but that doesn't surprise me.”
