Romaine Sawyers hailed Brentford's crushing 4-0 win over Derby as a team effort.

The Bees dominated proceedings and two goals apiece from Lasse Vibe and Jota ensured the west Londoners had their second biggest win of the season.

Sawyers was excellent in midfield and he attributed the display down to the fact that the squad have gelled to the point that they know what their team-mates will be doing.

He said: “I think at home we've been in good form, starting with Bristol City and Leeds. The gaffer has told us to keep performing and believing in ourselves.

“It was a team performance today. We all want to work hard for each other. It's all about the team and I think we've grasped that if we all do our bit we're going to go forward together.”

Sawyers was jeered off against Barnsley in October but received a standing ovation as he was withdrawn against the Rams.

The former Walsall man has shown a great improvement since that day and he feels a better player as well.

He added: “I've felt an improvement. There's more consistency there. Everyone has rallied together and everyone has been supportive of each other and it's starting to show on the pitch.”

It's a quick turnaround for Brentford and they travel to Barnsley on Monday looking to get their away form back on track after losing at Cardiff last Saturday.

Sawyers explained: “We've just got to keep building and building. We had a minor setback against Cardiff.

“Even then, I think the first half showed the levels of performance we require. Friday was the first chance to bounce back and we did it.”
