Nico Yennaris admitted he is 'hanging in there' after spending the last few weeks battling a calf injury.

The Brentford midfielder has had the issue since before Christmas but that has not stopped him from playing.

The medical team are currently managing the situation but surgery may yet be an option towards the end of the season.

“It's a difficult one but the doctor and the medical team think they know and it's one we'll look to resolve towards the end of the season,” Yennaris said.

“It's hanging in there. It's tough especially with the fixtures being so busy. We have to manage it and get through. We'll see what happens regarding surgery – we'll see how far we can go.”

The multitude of games has meant Yennaris has gone without much of a break and he still has a few weeks to go before he is really able to put his feet up when international football returns.

He added: “I think with the breaks we've had I've had a chance to rest and then come back fresh for the last push.”
