Harlee Dean believes Brentford can still go on and claim automatic promotion from the Championship.

The Bees are seven points behind leaders Middlesbrough but with only Derby of the top eight left to play, Dean and his side can still celebrate promotion to the top flight come May.

He said: “We've got eight games to go and they've got to play each other and we have Derby. If you just set targets to reach the play-offs you're not doing yourself justice. We'll give it our best and see where we end up.

“I think any game in the Championship is tough. Huddersfield drew at Norwich. Wigan beat Norwich. Results can happen as we haven't got as many top eight teams. Every three points is three points. You have to turn up on the pitch otherwise you'll get beaten.”

Mark Warburton's side have shown good bouncebackability this term, only losing three games in a row once before returning to winning ways and came from 1-0 and 2-1 down to beat Blackburn on Tuesday.

And Dean believes this is because the squad don't consider failure as an option.

He explained: “I don't think we dwell on defeats too much. Once the game is done we'll talk about it in the changing room and then go on to the next game.

“We've got a lot of young lads in the dressing room and failure doesn't come into their minds. That's the way it's gone.”
