Alan Judge is making his way back from injury but is making himself useful to Brentford by watching games for head coach Dean Smith.

The Irishman broke his leg in April and has been making steady progress in his recovery.

And he has been going to watch matches for Smith in order to help the squad prepare for games.

“He's been to watch a couple of football games for me. He's keeping involved and is a great person to have around,” Smith said.

“I've said if you're twiddling your thumbs would you like to watch a game for me. It keeps him involved and he's got a good eye so why not use it?

“I don't want a report just want him to come back and tell me how he thinks they did and it's opponents we might be playing in a few weeks so any extra bit of information certainly helps.”

As for how Judge is on the road to recovery, Smith can tell the Irishman is itching to return.

“You can usually tell how Alan is by looking at his face. He's itching to get back and get back quicker than the injury will allow him. That's natural for the lad.”
