Brentford's squad will return to pre-season training on Monday as they look to build on their 10th placed finish from last season.

The Bees have made minimal changes, so far, to what they had at the start of May with only three changes in personnel at this current juncture.

Alan McCormack was released and subsequently joined Luton, while Henrik Dalsgaard and Luke Daniels both completed moves to the club in May.

Dalsgaard, along with Lasse Vibe and Andreas Bjelland won't be present at the start of pre-season training as they were on international duty for Denmark and have been given extra time away to rest.

John Egan, who played for the Republic of Ireland against Mexico in New Jersey, will also be given an extended break as will youngsters Chris Mepham and Ellery Balcombe who have been in the Toulon Tournament for Wales and England respectively.

Brentford had wanted to get a striker over the line by the time pre-season training started but, with the transfer window yet to open and players still under contract, that has, seemingly, proven impossible.

Their next hope will be to have the striker in place by the time they travel to northern France for a training camp.

Having a settled squad will help enhance the strong relationship the team have with each other and enable them to focus on cutting the gap between themselves and the top six.

The Bees aren't far away from bridging that gap and the right blend of signings, while keeping their leading players, should see Dean Smith's side mount a challenge for promotion.
