New signing Luke Daniels is thoroughly enjoying life at Brentford after joining up with his new team-mates last week.

The goalkeeper, who signed from Scunthorpe United this summer, is ready to challenge Dan Bentley for a starting position and isn't up for a place on the substitutes' bench.

Indeed, both men have hit off and are training hard with each other to give boss Dean Smith a selection headache.

"It just seemed like a good option for me here," said Daniels.

"There were other options. I like to challenge myself and push myself and I can come here and give Dan a good run for his shirt.

"We get on really well and we both understand one of us is going to play on a Saturday. It's friendly but the competition is there.

"If I give him my best and he gives me his best it's good for everyone. There's no point being funny about it. We've just got to get on with it.

"I don't think I've met a footballer who doesn't want to play game. It's a challenge and one I'm up for.

"I have had eight or nine loan spells and played 140 games out on loan. I have been around and played the games. It's nice to be at a club playing week in week out and settled."
