Alan McCormack will do all he can do in order to prove he is worth a place in the Brentford side for the rest of the season and beyond.

The Irishman has featured in the Bees' last two games against Aston Villa and Brighton after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury, which made his five match ban for abusing a match official redundant from a selection point of view.

But, after working hard to recover, he feels as if he is back to his best and is now going to prove that he is worth a place at Brentford.

He said: “I'm in a great place. I worked extremely hard during the injury after the Newcastle game adding strength to the groin areas.

“We've managed to overcome that. I'm feeling strong and fit again and I want to play as much as I can to prove to the manager I'm good enough to play in this team.”

McCormack is out of contract at the season's end and, while no talks have started, his main focus is helping the Bees climb the Championship table.

He added: “There have been no talks. I go in and train. When the time comes at the end of the season and see what happens. I want to help the team now and get us up the league.”
