Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers knows how to get the better of a side managed by current QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

The Saint Kitts and Nevis international shone when Walsall, then managed by current Bees boss Dean Smith, beat Burton, who were managed by the Dutchman at the time, by two goals to nil.

Smith moved to Griffin Park at the end of November before Hasselbaink followed to move to Loftus Road at the start of December.

And Sawyers is aware of the style the QPR boss likes to play and expects Smith to drill Brentford's game plan into the squad ahead of the contest.

He said: “We beat Burton when he was in charge and drew with them when he wasn't in charge. He's got a philosphy that he wants to play.

“The gaffer will highlight their strengths and weaknesses during the week.”

Sawyers sees the game as a chance to right the wrongs of last Saturday's defeat to Barnsley and knows victory at Loftus Road will put the loss out of the supporters' minds.

He added: “It's a chance to put things right. It's a perfect game for the fans after the defeat to Barnsley.

“If we beat our rivals we make up for both games. We've got to play the game and not the occasion but we know there's that extra incentive for the fans.”
