Brentford are keen to sign Chamois Niortais central defender Yoann Barbet.

The Frenchman has been at the Ligue Two club since 2014 after being released by Bordeux, having failed to make a single appearance for the senior side.

The 22-year-old played 33 times for Chamois Niortais in Ligue Two last season and scored two goals as the club finished 11th.

Talks between the Frenchman and Brentford are thought to be at an advanced stage.

Meanwhile, The Bees are also interested in securing a deal for Kamohelo Mokotjo of FC Twente but face competition from other clubs.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder could be available for a cut price as a result of the Dutch side's financial situation but the South African's work permit may prove a stumbling block.

"There is more interest in him than just Brentford - we will have to weigh up our options." the player's agent Karel Jansen told ELF Voetbal.

Mokotjo has played three times for Bafana Bafana and made 33 appearances for the Tukkers in their last campaign.

He could be joining his team mate Andreas Bjelland at Griffin Park after the Danish defender was also linked with a move to the club.
