Brentford favourite Alan Cockram has launched a new team, Brentford Penguins FC, which is open to anyone with Down's syndrome aged eight and over.

The Brentford FC Community Sports Trust are backing the venture as are DS Active and aims to develop social skills, confidence and physical ability while learning football skills and having fun.

The sessions will focus on dribbling, passing and shooting while there will be plenty of games.

Dan Wood (Founder of the World Freestyle Football Federation) is also working hard on the project which will launch next month.

Down's syndrome, also known as Down syndrome or trisomy 21, is a genetic condition that typically causes some level of learning disability and certain physical characteristics.

The first taster session, for players between the ages of eight and 30, takes place on Thursday October 5 from 6.30-8pm at Brentside School Sports Hall, Greenford Avenue, Hanwell, London, W7 1JJ.
