Dean Smith expects QPR to be more adventurous than Burton Albion were on Tuesday night as he prepares his Brentford side for the west London derby.

Rangers were defensive, much like the Brewers were earlier this week, in their defeat at Derby in midweek as they have not won away since beating Birmingham in February.

And the Bees head coach is expecting Ian Holloway's side to be more adventurous as well as come at them when they have the ball.

“I certainly expect them to come and press us and I don't believe they'll sit back and allow us to have the possession that we had on Tuesday night against Burton.

“The games we've had against QPR before, Ian sets them up to come and press teams so I expect that again.”

Smith has warned his side that Rangers will be dangerous from set pieces and urged his squad to be on their mettle in order to claim a fourth straight win over Ian Holloway's men.

He said: “I watched the game against Aston Villa. They're very good from set pieces. They've got players but they have players missing.

“They can hit teams very hard. They beat the two top teams in Sheffield United and Wolves. They can beat the best so we have to be at our best.

“In this league, I don't think there's a good time to play anybody. Anyone can beat anyone. You have to make sure you're not complacent and contemplate on what you do and we'll be doing that.”

Smith confirmed that the squad are fully pumped up for the contest and believes the lively atmosphere will only help matters.

“It's very easy. The players have been lifted for most games. Even the game on Tuesday they were lifted,” he explained.

“They had to create their own atmosphere. They won't need to do that on Monday. It'll be a full backing of Brentford fans hoping to see us get another result.”
