Joe Hardy has spoken out about his hat-trick which helped Brentford B to an impressive 5-2 win at Manchester City on Saturday.
The striker, who the Bees captured from City's own youth set up earlier this year, led the way with a treble against his former side.
Goals from Bradley Clayton and Herson Alves completed the rout at the Etihad Campus, but Hardy admitted he was in a determined mood from the start.
"It's good to get a hat-trick," Hardy told ifollow. "They're my former club so it's good to come back and score against them.
“That's what I wanted when I came to Brentford, I knew they would play us a few times and it's good to score.
“I'd says I was a bit more fired up today. Some days you just want to score more, and this is a special one to come here and get three.
“They scored early on and we got one straight back, that really helped. We got momentum from there, showed our quality and scored a lot of goals.
“It's always important to play teams like City, also the Milan teams coming up. It will be good to play them because we want to challenge ourselves and that's the only way we're going to get better.
"It's been a really good experience so far, I'm settling in well, I'm getting going and I'm scoring goals – that's what I want to do.”
Hardy, 19, scored 11 goals and laid on five assists in just 19 games (12 starts) for City's U18s in the U18 Premier League last season. He also made the bench twice for their U23s in Premier League 2.
