Brentford FC new boy David Hunt won't have long to prove a point to his old employers, Shrewsbury Town.

In just two weeks time, the Bees travel to Shrewsbury Town, who released Hunt ahead of him signing for Brentford for the rest of the campaign.

But the 26-year-old former Crystal Palace junior insists it won't be a grudge match for him.

Hunt said: "I was in the team when I first joined them, but then I got injured and never really got back in.

"But they knew I wanted to move back down here as this is where my family is based, and I was commuting up to Shrewsbury every day, so the moved worked out beneficially for all parties."

Former Northampton midfielder Hunt made his debut at Lincoln on Saturday just 24 hours after signing for the Bees.

But it could have been months ago if Bees boss Andy Scott, who played alongside Hunt at Leyton Orient, had captured his man in the summer.

Hunt added: "Andy came in for me in the summer but it didn't quite work out then, but I'm delighted it did this time.

"I'm looking forward to pushing the lads for a place in that midfield now."
