Callum Elder is a major doubt for Brentford's trip to Aston Villa on Wednesday but Tom Field is available for the Bees.

The Leicester full back was forced off at half-time with a twisted knee at Brighton and was replaced by Andreas Bjelland.

Field was absent for the trip to the Amex with injury but to returned to training on Monday and can travel to the Midlands on Wednesday.

“Callum is a little bit better in terms of pain but he's having his knee scanned so he's going to struggle for Wednesday,” head coach Dean Smith said.

“Tom trained today but it was his first day with us. He's back and would be available as is Yoann Barbet.”

Impressed: Andreas Bjelland

Andreas Bjelland filled the role superbly at Brighton and it is also something Smith will consider going into the game.

Smith added: “It's something we could do there again. He's played there before and as holding midfielder before. He's a centre half by trade. What he is is a very good player.”

Rico Henry is definitely out after undergoing surgery on his shoulder injury and Smith is hoping to have him back to full fitness as soon as possible.

He explained: “Everyone heals differently. Rico is a quick healer. When he dislocated it the first time he didn't have an operation and was back soon after.

“He can withstand a lot of pain. He's a tough little lad and will be itching to get back as soon as possible.”
