While Brentford don't have any representatives at Euro 2016, which kicks off tomorrow, there are some former Bees who will be in France this summer; all of them playing in Group C.

Alan Judge was likely to have been named in the Republic of Ireland squad after his superb season for the club but his broken leg at Ipswich in April dashed his dreams.

Brentford fans, then, will have to look for alternative connections ahead of the tournament and it appears that the team to adopt will be Northern Ireland.

There are four players in the their squad who have worn the red and white shirt, while there is also a former Bee in the Poland setup.

The two sides meet on Sunday night in Nice before Northern Ireland face Ukraine on June 16 and rounding off their campaign against Germany on June 21. Poland face the world champions on June 16 and Ukraine on June 21.

GetWestLondon profiles the five players who are in their countries' squads and reflects on their spells at Griffin Park.

Will Grigg (Wigan and Northern Ireland)

The striker's time at Brentford was a frustrating one as he found himself on the bench regularly and, when he started, found goals hard to come by.

Grigg scored four goals for the Bees, including two on his home debut against Sheffield United.

However, he only found the net twice more against Notts County and Port Vale as he ended the season with a League One runners up medal.

Grigg went on loan to MK Dons in the 2014/15 campaign and thrived as the main man there; scoring 20 goals to lift the Buckinghamshire side to the Championship.

He was sold to Wigan last summer and scored 25 league goals to fire the Latics to the League One title with the song sung for him at the DW Stadium becoming a cult hit (see the video above).

Stuart Dallas (Leeds and Northern Ireland)

The forward took time to adjust to the rigours of the English game but, once he did, Dallas became a key player for Brentford.

The former Crusaders man needed a loan spell at Northampton to get regular game time but, on his return to Griffin Park, found the net on two occasions after the Bees had won promotion to the Championship.

Dallas then became a regular and scored a crucial goal against Derby to spark a marvellous run of form.

He became a legend at Griffin Park when he scored two fine goals at Craven Cottage as the Bees massacred Fulham on Good Friday 2015.

Leeds moved in for the forward last summer and Dallas continued to impress at Elland Road, earning his call-up.

Niall McGinn (Aberdeen and Northern Ireland)

On loan: Niall McGinn

One of Uwe Rosler's first signings, McGinn joined the club on loan from Celtic.

He spent a season at Griffin Park where he scored five league goals in 37 games, although he drew the ire of Rosler at times.

McGinn went to Aberdeen the following year after leaving Celtic and scored 20 goals in his first seaosn for the club.

He has been virtually an ever present for the Scottish side and helped them lift the League Cup trophy.

Lee Hodson (MK Dons and Northern Ireland)

Loan spell: Michael Timlin (L) against Lee Hodson

The 24-year-old made the fewest appearances for Brentford, with 13 league games in the 2012/13 season.

The defender joined on loan from Watford and after his stint at Griffin Park, moved to MK Dons on a permanent transfer.

He spent three years at stadium:mk and has recently been on loan with Kilmarnock and helped Killie stay in the SPL.

Wojciech Szczesny (Roma and Poland)

Pole in goal: Wojciech Szczesny

The Polish goalkeeper remains a cult hero at Griffin Park after producing some of the best performances between the sticks seen by the Bees.

It was only a matter of time before he shone at Arsenal and he impressed during his time as the Gunners' number one.

However, a loss of form led to him losing his place and the signing of Petr Cech relegated him to the number two role.

He went on loan to Roma last season in Serie A and has been included in the Poland squad.
