Yoann Barbet knows Brentford's trip to QPR is a must win game for the Bees.

The Frenchman, who joined the club in the summer, knows recent results have been unacceptable, especially the defeats to Charlton and Rotherham.

But the Brentford defender is relishing the chance to run out at Loftus Road and he knows, for the supporters, that victory is the only acceptable option.

Barbet said: “We played very badly in one derby last week but QPR is a bigger one for the fans and we now have to win this match.

“After what they have seen, it is what we have to do. We have lost eight of the last 11 games, and if we continue like that we could go down.

“So maybe the derby against QPR is the best match to play. We just have to react like a proper team, we do not have a choice.

“And I don’t think even a draw is enough, we have to win away at QPR to start a new series of better results and performances.”

Barbet has only come into the side after James Tarkowski's departure for Burnley and has impressed in the short space of time.

But he still feels he has some way to go to improve as a player and adapt to English football.

“I want to play games, more games than I have, I have only played seven times and that is not a lot. Last season I played 33 – and I want to improve.

“It is very different here in England for the style of play, I know I have to be stronger.

“Referees do not give fouls for challenges here that they do in France, and you have to adapt your game to that.

“But I understand that and hopefully I am getting better all the time.”

Barbet hopes his goal against Charlton will give him the edge in the battle with Jack O'Connell to partner Harlee Dean in the Brentford defence.

“It has been between me and Jack a bit, it was good for me to score last week but I can think I can improve and develop in my play. “
