Mark Warburton insists youngster Charlie Adams has a chance of breaking into Brentford's first-team squad.

The 19-year-old made his debut as a substitute at Carlisle back in March but hasn't featured since.

Bees young guns Aaron Pierre, Alfie Mawson and Josh Clarke have all gained valuable experience out on loan over the festive period, but Adams has remained at Griffin Park.

The midfielder marked an impressive performance with a goal in the development squad's 1-1 draw at Ipswich on Tuesday.

And boss Warburton says the academy graduate is knocking on the door trying to force his way in.

He said: "Every player is different. Some benefit from going out on loan while others are better off staying here and training with the first team.

"Charlie's been doing really well and knows he has a chance. He impressed against Ipswich the other day and will train with us ahead of the game at the weekend."
