Brentford will face Cardiff City at Griffin Park on Boxing Day, the Championship fixtures have revealed.

The game is currently scheduled for 3pm but the Bees have been known to move the fixture to an early kick-off.

The Bees have now been at home for four successive Boxing Days but have not won on the date since beating Swindon Town in the 2013/14 season.

That game saw Brentford twice come from behind as Sam Saunders' creative free kick featuring a tactical slip, Clayton Donaldson and Marcello Trotta goals to claim the win.

They were beaten 4-2 by Ipswich Town in the 2014/15 season as two early Daryl Murphy goals sent the Bees crashing to defeat. Saunders grabbed the two Bees goals.

Last season saw Brentford draw 0-0 with Brighton & Hove Albion in a game Dean Smith's side should have won.

Games against Cardiff City provided goals last season as the Bluebirds won 3-2 in south Wales in December.

The return game at Griffin Park saw Brentford come out on top by two goals to one thanks to Scott Hogan's brace.
