The Dutchman was named as head coach last week and will formally meet his charges on the first day of pre-season training on July 1.
However, he will have spoken to members of the squad who have been at the training ground like Sam Saunders who been receiving treatment on a calf injury sustained in the League Two play-off final.
He said: “I've not spoken to much of the squad yet. The players are on holiday so I'll see them on July 1.
“ We'll go to Portugal for 10 days and I can speak to them then.”
Dijkhuizen is keen to retain the group ethic which worked so well last season at Brentford and also at his former club, Excelsior.
He added: “I'm a team player. One of the strengths at Excelsior was the team spirit. It's important to get it sorted out in a team. They have to work together to make the results so that's the main point.
“I think Brentford are similar to Excelsior but Brentford is 10 times bigger. It makes it more difficult but it's important to get the culture of the club. Brentford is a family club and that's important.”
