Dean Smith believes Ryan Woods is a perfectionist who will only get better at Brentford.

The midfielder has established himself as one of the first names on the team-sheets with a string of strong performances.

Woods can perform the tough tackling midfield role, while also linking up play with some cute passes that can thread the eye of the needle.

And Smith believes that Woods will only improve as the season goes on due to his commitment to the game.

He said: “I'd played against Ryan Woods when he was at Shrewsbury. He played at right back and in centre midfield.

“He's got a great work ethic and attitude but his touch and passing is very good. He'll believe he can still get better. He'll see a few loose passes and that'll drive him mad as he's a perfectionist.”

Woods is not the finished article just yet and Smith believes his decision making will improve in time, while the midfielder will look to add to his goal tally.

He added: “His range of passing is really good. His decision making will improve the more games he plays and I'm sure he'll want to get on the scoresheet more than he has.”
