Mark Warburton has launched a staunch defence of Andre Gray, dubbing the social network critics as 'insane'.
The striker posted a sarcastic tweet saying 'for the doubters' with an image of him blowing a kiss after his goal against Nottingham Forest.
And Warburton has nothing but praise for the former Luton man's efforts that could see him end up close to the 20-goal mark come the end of the season. Gary Blissett scored 21 goals in Brentford's solitary season in the second tier in 1992/93.
He said: “If someone is criticising a player that's come up from Conference football and score 16 goals. Does he deserve criticism? I think that's insane.
“From when we first saw him to where he is now is chalk and cheese. 16 goals is outstanding. If he finishes with 18. 18 goals from a player coming from the Conference. That's outstanding.
“He's learning everything – be it discipline, nutrition, gym work etc. He's learning lots and did good stuff at Luton. He's adapted really well. For him to receive abuse; I'm staggered by that.”
