Dean Smith has insisted that there have been no bids received for Brentford defender Harlee Dean.

The Bees centre back, who is yet to sign an extension to a deal which expires next summer, has been linked with moves to Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls signed Frederico Venancio on a season long loan, which would move Leeds clear in the race but the Yorkshire side are prioritising a striker after Chris Wood's £15million move to Burnley.

Once they finalise a deal for a frontman, the club could then look to strengthen in defence but, at this time, no offer has been made for Dean.

“It's still the status quo on Harlee,” Smith confirmed when asked about the situation at his Thursday press conference.

The transfer window expires at 11pm next Thursday (August 31) and, if Smith had his way, the window would shut without Brentford conducting any further business.

He added: “Not a lot (would be ideal). I would be delighted if nothing happened.”
