Dean Smith revealed that Nico Yennaris was okay after his collision with Jordan Hugill in Brentford's 3-2 win over Preston.
The North End forward collided with the former Arsenal man just after Sean Maguire's equaliser, knocking Yennaris out.
After lengthy treatment, the 24-year-old was stretchered off but regained consciousness soon after and Smith was unhappy with the challenge.
He said: “Nico Yennaris is ok. He believes he took on eight people and scored. He can't remember the goal.
“He's got a whack. I didn't see it but when you look back I believe it's a possible red card. He could have got out of the way but dipped his shoulder into Nico's head.
“It's an unfortunate incident but he's okay which is the positive thing.”
Smith was unsure whether it was intentional and believes the replays suggested Hugill dipped his shoulder.
He added: “It's a hard one to see. It looks like he dipped his shoulder. I think he's trying to block him but ended up catching him on the side of the face and knocking him out.”
Hugill tried a similar chargedown move after Preston's second equaliser but Romaine Sawyers was quick to step into his path.
