Mark Warburton has revealed Alan Judge missed Brentford’s win over Rotherham due to a knee injury.

The Irishman limped off in last weekend’s FA Cup defeat to Brighton and failed to recover in time for the 1-0 victory against the Millers.

However, Warburton is hopeful Judge will be back in action shortly after a brief spell on the sidelines.

He said: “Judgey got a knock on his knee last week, so there was no point risking him because it's a long season. It's only a short-term problem and he's being treated, likewise Lewis Macelod.”

Rotherham action: Stuart Dallas tries to get past Richard Smallwood

Brentford strengthened their play-off hopes thanks to Stuart Dallas’ second-half strike at Griffin Park.

It ended a run of three successive defeats as the west Londoners moved to within five points of leaders Bournemouth.

Warburton added: “It was a good victory, although it wasn’t as pretty as we’d like, but it was an important win and clean sheet in difficult conditions.

“We’ve played a lot better than today and lost. We expected a more physical encounter but we dealt with it. It would be nice to play better but we take the win.”
