Dean Smith is disappointed about the timing of Brentford's contest with Aston Villa, three days after their FA Cup tie with Chelsea.
The Blues face a trip to Liverpool the same evening themselves meaning Antonio Conte is set to name a much-changed side as well.
And the Bees head coach believes that there should be a free week around cup ties in order to preserve the integrity of the competition.
Smith said: “What's disappointing for me is we have a full fixture list after the cup game. We need a free week before and after as it allows clubs to name their strongest team.
“It makes it tough for teams to go all out to win the FA Cup. I was saying this last season when we had a game on Tuesday and then Friday. Maybe it's something the governors can look at.”
He added: “I suppose what helps me is the fact they're playing Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday but we're playing Aston Villa so it may come down to who can rotate best.”
What makes it worse for all clubs is the fact the game takes place on transfer deadline day, meaning they could end up substituting players due to bids coming in.
The head coach hit out at the schedulers saying: "It's crackers really. Who thought of having a fixture list on deadline day. I'm sure I won't be the only head coach whose preparations might go out the window."
The entire Brentford squad have been training this week, although it is expected that the game will come to early for the likes of Rico Henry and Alan Judge who are recovering from long term injuries.
“I've had a full squad training today and it's nice to have 21 out there. There's a bit of firmness and frost in the ground but with a 42,000 sell out everyone is out there trying to impress me,” Smith said.
