Brentford boss Mark Warburton slammed the officials after his side were denied a stonewall penalty during Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat to Norwich.

With the Bees trailing 1-0, Alex Pritchard was upended in the box by Jos Hooiveld, only for referee Tim Robinson to wave away appeals.

The Canaries raced up the other end to double their lead through Cameron Jerome, before the former Stoke striker added a third late on.

"It was a shocking decision," Warburton fumed afterwards.

"If I'm the only one who thinks it's a penalty, I need to go to Specsavers. I'm very disappointed because that incident changed the entire game.

"If it's not a penalty, then book our player. If one of our players dives I'll be all over them like a rash. It was a shocking decision and 30 seconds later we were 2-0 down.

"The players are devastated. To a man they were aghast at that decision. They couldn't believe it wasn't a penalty. Pritchard is distraught.

"Maybe we are too polite and respectful as a bench. I've apologised to the players. There seems to be a pattern and there's been 10 key decisions already this season that haven't gone our way."

James Tarkowski gifted the visitors the opener when his poor pass was intercepted and Alexander Tettey slotted past David Button.

But Warburton refused to criticise the young defender and insists the Bees won't ditch their passing style.

He added: "Tarky will learn from that. They're the fine margins the boys are dealing with at this level. I thought we moved the ball well.

"Norwich will know they were in a tight game. They are an outstanding team, but we must take self-belief because the scoreline was flattering. We went toe-to-toe with them."
