Honest Barnet boss Martin Allen reckons his side were lucky to get away with a 3-0 defeat at Northampton.

The disappointed manager fronted up when he admitted his side were poor in the extreme that only increased worries over Bees away form.

In fact, any real sting this season has been at The Hive rather than on the road where Barnet have taken only five points from a possible 39.

"They were fare better than us, in possession, out of possession - right through out the whole team," Allen said.

"Their players were on it, and far too many of ours weren't. That's what you get: a 3-0 thumping.

"I'm not happy. We didn't get in there and do the basics that got us up the table and won us the (National League) Championship."

When asked if there were any positives from another dreary away day, Allen took a self-searching age before answering.

"Our youth players continue to develop, and our keeper played well - thank God," he said.

Manchester City loanee Ian Lawlor was the one saving grace, according to Allen, who but for the 21-year-old, would have condemned Barnet to a six or seven goal defeat.

"I'm saddened for our supporters, a lot of whom made the trip," the gaffer added.
