Boss Paul Barry hopes to tie down prize assets Charlie Moone and Dave Tarpey to Hampton & Richmond Borough within the next week.

Moone bagged 40 goals in a prolific season for the Beavers, while Tarpey proved again to be his perfect foil after returning to the club mid-season from Farnborough.

But while preparing new deals for his strike duo, Barry is also determined to to make sure young defender George Wells does not slip through the net.

He said: “Justyn Roberts and Ben Harris have signed new deals, and Charlie and Tarps will probably follow soon. We have an option to extend their deals and we want it done as soon as possible, hopefully next week.

“We are also keen to get George Wells signed up, and the fact we are talking about him in the same breath as Charlie and Tarps shows how highly rate him. To play 40 Ryman Premier games at the age of 17 says everything about his ability.

“We want a more settled squad next time rather than all the chopping and changing we had this season. We will probably need another centre back as Darren Powell won't play as much as he did this season.

“In the centre of the park, we are quite well covered, but out wide we have struggled, and if Charlie and both Tarps sign, we could probably do with one more up top.”

Hampton finished their season in 12 following a 2-0 defeat at Carshalton on Saturday, but still have the Middlesex Senior Cup final to play at Wealdstone tomorrow.
