It might have been a rotten night for his namesake team as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Coventry.

But Tuesday night was one to remember for Stuart Blackburn, who netted a debut goal just 24 hours after signing for Bedfont Green.

The former Welwyn Garden City striker notched Green's third goal in a 3-1 win over Cove which sent them five points clear at the top of the Combined Counties Premier.

Gavin Hart opened the scoring for Green just four minutes in with an amazing goal which saw him beat four players before rifling an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Blackburn bagged the second after the break before Chris Henry made up for missing a hat-trick of good first-half chances by chipping home a delightful third.

And when Cove pulled one back, it was too-little, too-late.

It was a second win in four days for Dennis Bainborough's men, who edged out struggling Cobham 3-2 on Saturday.

Cobham, without a win since November, shocked Green by taking an early lead when Alan Hughes dropped the ball, which fell kindly for a visiting striker.

Green were level just six minutes later when Russell Miner headed back Hart's cross for Henry to tap in, and it was Henry who was brought down in the area for Phil Merritt to put Green in front from the penalty spot just before half-time.

A fine move involving Merritt, Hart and Billy Sentence ended with Carl McLusky squaring for Henry to tap in his second on 54 minutes.

But Green were made to sweat it out for the last 15 minutes after Merritt turned villain to give away a penalty, which was converted.

Green visit Banstead Athletic on Saturday.
