Tony Mowbray has deemed Sunday's match at Brentford as a cup final for his Blackburn side.

Victory will give the Lancashire side the best chance of staying in the Championship, while the Bees are looking to cement a top 10 finish.

Blackburn will travel to west London in high spirits after winning against Aston Villa last weekend; a result that means the Villans will finish below Brentford.

And while Griffin Park is not Wembley, it is being given the same hype by the Rovers boss.

"At least we've got a final week to really build it up, to get the players at their peak maximum fitness, mentality and quality," Mowbray told Radio Rovers.

Blackburn boss: Tony Mowbray

"Lets really build up to this game like it is a cup final. It is ironic we are going to west London to go and play a cup final in our minds and lets approach the game like that and lets see how we get on."

Blackburn have suffered just two defeats from their last seven games away from home, while the Bees have won their last four at Griffin Park, and Mowbray is looking forward to the challenge.

"We've been pretty good on the road in the last couple of games so I'll look forward to the challenge of that," he added.

"We'll work really hard through the week and try and get a game plan and a recipe to go to Brentford and win."
