Hello and welcome to GetWestLondon's live coverage of Birmingham vs Brentford; the most highly anticipated fixture from a Bees perspective this season.

You won't need reminding that the west Londoners sold Harlee Dean, Jota and Maxime Colin to the Blues at the end of August and tonight's fixture marks the first time the trio have faced their old team-mates.

Lee Carsley, who was head coach at Griffin Park in 2015, will be in the dugout as Blues' assistant boss to Steve Cotterill.

The Bees are set to be forced into one change with Nico Yennaris highly unlikely to be in the side after he was knocked unconscious in the 3-2 win at Preston.

You can follow all the action and reaction with our live blog. We'll be bringing you team-news, live updates and analysis plus post-match reaction from both bosses.

This page will update automatically so there is no need to refresh it. So, sit back, relax and enjoy our live coverage of Birmingham vs Brentford.

That concludes our coverage. See you on Saturday

On the fans

The fans were superb. They were very jovial and some funny lyric making. I’m really pleased with the backing they’ve got.

Penalty?

I was up appealing for it. Neal took a touch and the lad went to ground. It’s not clear if he got the ball first but it’s dangerous to slide there.

It’s the penalty taker’s job to stick the ball into the back of the net. He’s now our penalty taker until he misses. I’m pleased for Neal Maupay to get his goal. He’s been through a tough time starting games. Lasse started on Saturday and today. Neal then came on and won us the game.

Dean Smith

Is that one of the most satisfying wins of your career?

It was a good win. I didn’t think it was a vintage performance. It was scrappy. If you’re insinuating the other side of the city; it was nice to see Gary Shaw at the end.

What about the departures?

I’ve got a great relationship with the three players still. I hope Maxime is good as he got an early injury. We knew our squad was good enough to compete at this level and Birmingham offered us the money we know we could take.

That looked like 2-1! A great header and somehow Dan Bentley makes a superb stop to tip it over.
