Alan Devonshire looks set to snap up striker Ben Wright for Hampton & Richmond Borough.

The 19-year-old former Basingstoke Town, Andover and Fleet Town striker came on as a sub in Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat to Brentford.

Dev said: "He's a good player, and I should know by today whether he's signing or not."

However, Dev looks to have missed out on former Aston Villa and Bournemouth midfielder Stephen Cook.

The former England U19 star played in the Beavers' 0-0 draw with Wealdstone on Saturday but did not feature against Brentford.

Dev said: "Stephen had been on trial with Walsall as well, and he's not phoned me back, so we'll have to see about that one."

Another trialist who won't be staying at Beveree is former Dorchester Town, Sutton United and Broxbourne Borough centre-back Uzo Opara, who failed to make it off the bench against both Wealdstone and Brentford.

Of the Brentford game, Dev added: "We weren't as sharp as we could have been in the final third of the pitch, but we did alright."

Hampton's remaining friendlies are at Walton Casuals on Saturday and Leatherhead on Monday, although an ex-West Ham XI, including former Brentford boss Martin Allen, will take on a Ray Winstone Celebrity XI at Beveree on Sunday at 3pm.
