Having stands close to the pitch is the number one request from Brentford FC fans for their new stadium.

And more than 20 per cent questioned in the Lionel Road Stadium Consultation want some form of terracing so that the atmosphere at Griffin Park is transferred to the new home.

The report from the consultation, released this week, says: "Brentford fans seem to feel strongly that it (Lionel Road) should have a character of its own and not follow the route of many modern stadiums that look and feel the same."

Fans were split as to exactly how the ground should look although many said they did not want a 'bowl' effect.

And a 'sizable' minority wanted to replicate the idea of a pub on every corner.
