Barnet joint head-coach Ulrich Landvreugd expressed his delight at Jon Nurse netting the winner against Dartford.

The winger-cum-striker scored the only goal of the game with a volley five minutes after coming on as a substitute - his first of the season.

Landvreugd said of the former Dagenham and Redbridge player: “Jon Nurse has a lot of character and he was waiting for this moment. I am very glad he scored. He scored two goals in the Herts Senior Cup and was eager to come in. I am very happy for him.

“I think the good example (for Barnet's recent success) is Jon Nurse. We have a great team-spirit, and everybody is included. You see the group is growing as a team, and the quality of the training is also going up higher."

He continued: “I think we have played quite well all season – sometimes we have one really good first-half, or one really good second-half. Unfortunately we have had a lot of draws; otherwise we’d be a little bit higher in the table. It is hard to beat us.”

Nurse, however, played down his strike against Dartford and instead chose to praise the effort of his Bees team-mates.

He added: “It was nice to score but it was not about me today; it was about the team. We showed a different style of performance today, and we had to dig deep and battle for the three points today.

“It was one of those performances which we had to win ugly – and we done that today. We try and play good football, but today we had to get the basics right to get the right result.”
