Gary Ross was the hero as Bedfont & Feltham claimed the RPM Records Division One Challenge Cup beating Worcester Park 4-3 on penalties.

The Yellows had gone up 2-0 thanks to goals from Jim Ward, who fired home from a Luke Craig corner after six minutes.

Jacobe Lambe headed home midway through the first half, but Worcester Park hit back just before half-time.

Park equalised midway through the second half and the scores remained deadlocked through extra time, meaning spot-kicks were required to determine the winner.

Jason Pinnock, Sefa Tunc, Lambe and Walters all converted and, with Ross making two saves from the spot, Bedfont & Feltham emerged victorious.

Manager Louis Carder-Walcott said: “After taking the lead we let them come back into it. The game was competitive and a good cup final. Looking at the performance we could do better.

Celebrate: Gary Ross after the penalty shoot-out

“I was calm on the penalties. I was more nervous of us taking penalties than Gary saving them. I knew he would save one or two and he nearly saved three.”

The Yellows can secure a cup double if they emerge victorious over Molesey in the Southern Combination Cup final on Friday but the frustration with the manager is they have to play at their ground.

Carder-Walcott added: “It's going to be a tougher one. It might suit us that they try to play football. I'm confident we can get a result but it depends if we turn up on the day.

“Most teams are stronger at home and we've got to go there. It does make a difference.”

Carder-Walcott also paid tribute to the supporters for their efforts through the season.

He added: “I'm grateful to the fans for their support. It's great to see the fans on the sideline when you're in the dugout.”
