Jack Saville has expressed his delight at rebuilding his relationship with Edgar Davids and getting back into the Barnet starting XI.

The former Chelsea and Southampton defender was a back-up last season, with him spending the latter half of the campaign on loan at Ebbsfleet United, who suffered relegation to the Conference South.

But he is now back in favour at The Hive and was part of the starting line-up as Barnet grabbed their second Conference Premier win in a row with a 1-0 victory over Kidderminster on Saturday.

Speaking about his return to form, the 22-year-old said: “I didn’t get on very well with Mister Davids last season: I was very lazy, which is why I didn’t play and went out on loan.

“Over the summer, I worked very hard to improve and better myself; I know I’ve got the talent, but I got myself together as a person and worked harder than I had previously. Mister Davids noticed this, and I’m grateful to him for giving me another chance.

“We now have a great relationship, and I get on very well with him. I listen to everything he says – he’s been there, done that, achieved almost everything. I really enjoy working under him.”
