Barnet manager Martin Allen has confirmed captain Charlie MacDonald will be out for around a month ahead of this weekend's visit of Altrincham.

The Bees' skipper has been out of action since damaging knee ligaments late in the first half against Dover two weeks ago.

Allen also confirmed that Jack Saville still has a few weeks before he can be considered again after an ankle ligament injury.

The Bees go into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Wrexham on Tuesday night but still remain top of the table and Allen has called for his side to cope better with the added pressure of being league leaders.

The 49-year-old said: “All of the reports, the pictures, the photographs and the television, the radio - everybody saying how fantastic Barnet are; you have to live with it, and you have to learn to live with it and learn to play with it.

“Teams are going to come here and raise their game by an extra yard. Every game we play now is a cup final for everybody. Whenever we pull into town we are the top of the table team.”

Allen also singled out player-coach Jon Nurse for his performances over the last week after making his first start of the season against the Dragons in midweek.

He said: “I thought he was superb and if anything he should have stayed on the pitch for longer than I kept him on, that was a mistake on my part I think.”

Meanwhile, Keanu Marsh Brown has opted to stay at The Hive after rejecting a loan move to Forest Green Rovers.

The 22-year-old, who was subject to bids from Blackpool and Luton over the summer, was back on the bench for the Bees against Wrexham.

Barnet sit a point clear at the top of the Conference Premier while Saturday's visitors Altrincham are hovering just above the relegation zone after only one win from their last seven games.
