Barnet boss Martin Allen praised his squad’s work ethic and determination as the league leaders romped to a 5-0 rout of Altrincham on Saturday.

Goals from John Akinde and Luisma Villa Lopez had put the Bees four goals ahead at the break before Sam Hoskins completed the victory at the Hive.

Allen praised the manner of the victory after making changes to the side who lost midweek at Wrexham.

He said: “All of the players applied themselves very well. We made a few changes to the team and all of the players that came in did very well.

“They are all versatile and adaptable. Most importantly they are all hungry and willing to play anywhere for the team.”

Barnet’s victory was down, in no short part, to striker Akinde, who bagged a hat-trick – and Allen described the forward as ‘unplayable’.

He added: “John Akinde has been unplayable at times.

“He has led the team from the front. He is totally committed and fantastic in training. It has been great working with him.”

Despite the addition of goalscorer Hoskins from Yeovil on Friday, the Barnet boss revealed that he is fully committed to the players at his disposal, and not in the market to sign any more players.

He said: “All of our players can play. I am very happy with all of them and I have faith in all of them.

“I have worked with these players and I have promised them that I will stick with them.

“I see how good they are in training and as a manager I have got to have faith in them.

“We are a good group with a lot of games in a short space of time, and we practice and train on the training pitch for days like today.”
