Barnet manager Martin Allen cast his eye over former Brentford duo Charlie MacDonald and Gavin Mahon during Saturday's friendly against Peterborough.

MacDonald, who has been released by League One side Oldham, and Mahon, who most recently played for relegated Conference side Tamworth, both featured in the first half of 1-0 defeat to The Posh.

MacDonald, 33, who has also played for Charlton, Southend, Leyton Orient and MK Dons among others, partnered summer signing John Akinde up front, while Mahon, who also numbers QPR, Watford, Notts County and Portsmouth among his former clubs, played in the middle.

Another trialist for Barnet was ex-AFC Wimbledon defender Will Antwi, who partnered Jack Saville in the centre of the back four.

Barnet fielded a completely different XI for the second half, including some less well known trialists.

Ramil Sheriff (ex-Norwich City and Northwood) featured in defence, Archange Nkumu (ex-Chelsea, Concorde Rangers  and Hendon) in the middle and Vinny Mukendi (ex-Macclesfield, Barrow, Droylesden, Stalybridge Celtic and Southport) up front.
