Harrow Borough have appointed Steve Baker as their new manager.

Baker joins from Ryman One South side Chipstead, where he has been in the hot seat since 2013, after beating 30 other applicants to land the job at Earlsmead.

He replaces Dave Anderson, who stood down as Boro manager earlier in the month but has continued to look after the side until a replacement had been appointed.

It is expected that Andeson's last game in charge will be the re-arranged Middlesex Senior Cup quarter final clash at North Greenford United on Tuesday night, when he will introduce the new man to the players before handing over the reins.

Exit: Dave Anderson is leaving Boro

During an illustrious playing career, Baker played as a striker for Hayes (1992-97), Yeading (1997-98), Hendon (1998-99) and Egham Town (2001-02) before becoming player coach with Chertsey Town (2003-07).

He begun his coaching career working for franchise soccer schools in conjunction with Arsenal and Chelsea, and continued to develop his skills as first team coach at St Albans City (2007-08).

After two years as manager at Egham Town (2009-11), Baker continued to hone his coaching skills with Beaconsfield SYCOB (2011-12) and Wingate & Finchley (2012-13) before moving back into management with Walton & Hersham in 2013. His stay at Stompond Lane was short lived before he moved on to Chipstead.

He joins a Boro side currently lying 23rd in the Ryman Premier, although just three points away from safety, following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Grays Athletic.
