Jon Toral believes Brentford can still make the play-offs, despite a run of just five wins in 15 matches.

A lot of games, especially in the past month, have followed a similar narrative with the Bees having plenty of the ball but not doing enough to secure the victory.

Whether it is missing chances or defensive lapses handing the opposition goals there has been an air of angst around Griffin Park ever since speculation over Mark Warburton’s future began on February 10.

Results have left Brentford three points behind sixth-placed Ipswich with two games remaining but Toral is not ruling out sneaking into the play-off spots.

The Arsenal said: “I still believe we can get into the top six. There’s still two games to go and we must get our heads up.

“We’ve seen in football, anything is possible until the maths say we can’t get that last spot, we’ll keep trying and working for it.”

Bolton were the latest side to inflict pain on Brentford as the Bees took the lead before gifting the Trotters an equaliser.

Alex Pritchard struck just after the half-hour mark before Adam Le Fondre raced through to equalise after James Tarkowski lost the ball in midfield.

Jonathan Douglas restored the lead soon after but the defender made his second goal conceding error when he sold goalkeeper David Button short to allow Mark Davies to equalise.

Toral added: “We’re all disappointed after that as we were looking to win and get those three points. We can’t focus too much on what has gone wrong. We have to look at next week’s game."
