Jon Toral is loving life at Brentford, but knows Arsenal hold the cards as to where the midfielder will play next season.

The 20-year-old loanee scored the first hat-trick by a Brentford player, in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Blackpool , since Gary Alexander’s treble against Wycombe in January 2012.

His contract at the Gunners expires in the summer, although the north Londoners have the option of an extension.

Toral said: “Arsenal have got the preferential option and have the last word. I’m happy here and I’m enjoying my football.

“At the moment, I’m focused on Brentford and finishing the season well. That’s my main objective.”

The midfielder opened his account with two quick goals inside the first 20 minutes – the first a left footed effort from close range, then a free header minutes later.

Mine: Jon Toral with the match ball

He took the match ball home with a strike in the final minute to put the gloss on a game that was as one-sided as England against San Marino.

Toral added: “The first one was great work from Dougie (Jonathan Douglas) and I had to finish it off. I toe-poked it in and it was lucky it went underneath the goalkeeper.

“The second was a great ball from Andre to the back stick and I turned it in. The third one was the luckiest one, when the keeper palmed it into my body and it fell in.”

The former Barcelona youngster has made 26 appearances for the Bees, but only nine of them have been from the start.

However, he will look to do his best for the team and for departing manager Mark Warburton .

He said: “I’m very thankful to him (Warburton) as he’s given me the chance of my first professional club. That’s what I need and that’s what I wanted. I’m learning a lot from him. The players have been great for me.

“If he believes I can play for Arsenal then great.

“It’s good that a really good manager thinks highly of me.”

Brentford travel to Birmingham on Saturday hoping to make it three wins in a row and climb into the play-off positions.

Toral said: “It’s going to be a tough game as we found when they came here.

“We’ve been to places like Leeds and Nottingham and had a lot of away wins.”
