Angry Neal Ardley might just about have calmed down this morning after being left furious by AFC Wimbledon's shambolic display at Bristol Rovers.

Boss Ardley apologised to Wimbledon's travelling supporters for the 3-0 defeat at the Memorial Stadium as Wimbledon found themselves second best in every department.

David Clarkson and Tom Parkes scored first-half goals set the Pirates sailing to victory and a late red card to Sammy Moore and a Matt Harrold penalty made it a disastrous day for the Dons.

Ardley admitted it would take days for him to recover from the result in Gloucestershire, so it should just about be safe to knock on the manager's office door this morning.

“I'll calm down,” he said in the wake of the defeat on Saturday. “It'll take me a couple of days to calm down but I will and I'll go back to work, I always do. The players will have two weeks of good, intense work and we'll make sure that the players are ready for the next game.

“I'm an honest manager, I'm not going to come in here and dress it up as anything it isn't. I'm going to come in here and tell you that wasn't good enough. You guys think it was poor, the fans think it was poor, but believe me I think it was 10 times worse.”

Already out of the FA Cup at the first-round stage, following defeat to Coventry, Wimbledon must now wait until December 14 to put things right when they welcome Mansfield to Kingsmeadow.
