Oscar believes Chelsea are better suited to a 4-3-3 formation rather than the 4-2-4 new manager Antonio Conte has experimented with during pre-season.

The Blues now have just one week remaining before they kick-off the new Premier League campaign at home to West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.

It has been a summer of change for the west Londoners with the arrival of Conte at the helm following the Italian’s eye-catching performance with his country at Euro 2016.

He is a man known for his tactical prowess, favouring the 4-2-4 at Bari and Siena, before mastering the 3-5-2 system during his spell in charge of Juventus.

But while the 47-year-old has his preferred methods, he remains a pragmatist and has repeatedly stated his belief that the team’s qualities will determine his chosen formation.

Chelsea used the 4-2-4 during friendly games in Austria but started to work with the more familiar 4-3-3 in the United States, notably against Milan, to good effect.

It was employed again for the final warm-up game of the summer at Werder Bremen over the weekend as Oscar was on target in a 4-2 victory at the Weserstadion.

Oscar said: “I think we have played better with the 4-3-3 than when we have played 4-2-4, but we have two formations and always we try our best.

“I like playing in a 4-3-3 because I can score more goals, and also create more and tackle in midfield which I like to do to help the team.

“In the last two games I have scored three goals so I am feeling good, we are ready and now we are all just looking forward to starting the season.”

Eden Hazard scored his third goal of pre-season to help the Blues a win in Bremen.

Tactical master: Head coach Antonio Conte of Chelsea looks on

The Belgian's powerful strike along with Oscar, Diego Costa and Pedro goals were enough to finally put away the spirited German outfit.

Chelsea showcased some of the attacking flair that was missing in last season’s disastrous campaign and Brazilian Oscar was brimming with confidence after the game.

He added: “We like to play together. Every time when we have the ball we come close together to try and link up and create something. This is good for the team and for us.

“4-2 was a bit low I think, we played much better than Werder Bremen and we deserved to score more goals.

“We missed a lot of chances but it was good because the team created a lot. Everyone played very well.”
