Andy Scott has told Glenn Poole to be ready as his chance to return to the Brentford first team could come at any time.

Popular Poole, last season's top scorer, has been on the sidelines since November after losing his place to Sam Wood, who has made the left wing slot his own.

The situation has led to Poole being linked with a move away from Griffin Park, most recently to Gillingham.

And Gills boss Mark Stimson this week said he will come back for Poole in the summer after failing to land him on loan.

But Scott said: "Glenn is still in my plans, and I certainly wasn't about to let him go out on loan to a promotion rival.

"I don't know why their manager is saying he'll be bugging me every day about Glenn, he's not phoned me once yet.

"It doesn't annoy me having our players speculated about as it shows we've got good players other teams want.

"I've told Glenn to be ready as he could return at any time when it's least expected, as we showed with Gary Smith against Barnet."
