Alan Judge had returned to non-contact training with the Brentford first team.

The Irishman has been out of action for since breaking his leg against Ipswich in April 2016 and has undergone two operations.

But he has now stepped up his recovery, although there is no timeframe on when he will return to the squad.

“He's trained with us this week and got that under his belt. He's been non-contact. He's an infectious character and to see him on the training ground again is great,” Smith said.

“I don't think so because he's now got a new normal. His normal before would be different. He's been out of action for 18 months.

“He broke both bones and had a couple of operations. It'll take time to get used to his body again. We won't push him but it's great to have him back with us.”
