Dannie Bulman is adamant AFC Wimbledon are not feeling the pressure to pick up points at Northampton despite suffering a setback against Oxford.

The play-off chasing Dons face the league leaders at Sixfields on Tuesday night, hot on the heels of their 2-1 loss to the U's on Saturday.

Neal Ardley’s side face Accrington & Stanley and Bristol Rovers after Northampton, meaning they will have faced four sides all vying for promotion in the space of 18 days.

But Bulman and the rest of the Dons squad know how many points they need to make the play-offs.

And the midfield dynamo says it doesn’t matter if those points come against top six or bottom six sides.

Bulman explained: “There is no added pressure after this result, we know what we have to do, we need to pick up points, maybe 21 points from 14 games.

“It is doable, our run has been brilliant since Christmas time, so why can’t we carry on losing two in 12 odd games.

“Three points is three points no matter who it comes against.”

The Dons slipped to just their second defeat of 2016 against Oxford and Bulman left the pitch a frustrated figure.

He said: “It’s just one of those days, we had enough chances to get ahead and get a draw out of the game at least.

“I thought we stood up to what they’re about, our game plan worked, we had chances, enough chances to get something and another day we would have come out victors.

“Obviously we are all disappointed in their, but it is good that we have a game at Northampton on Tuesday so we can’t stay disappointed for too long.”

Northampton are sitting pretty at the top of League Two, a full 10 points clear of second place.

Prior to Saturday’s shock 0-0 draw with Hartlepool, the Cobblers were on a 10 game winning streak stretching back to before Christmas.

And the veteran midfielder is looking forward to testing himself against the best side in the league.

He said: “It's a big game Tuesday, their winning run is over so hopefully we can go there get three points and start a decent run.

“That’s why you’re a footballer, you want to be in the big games to test yourself against the best in the league

“We could be playing a survival scrap but I know where I would rather be.

“I know a few players at Northampton, they are good quality players who have played in this league and one or two leagues above.

“They’re top of the league by merit and they’re a decent side so hopefully it’ll be a good game Tuesday night.”
