They had by far the better chances but couldn’t make them count as AFC Wimbledon were held to a goalless draw by Oldham Athletic at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Sunday lunchtime.

The game, the last of the League One season, was entertaining in parts but ultimately a frustrating encounter for the Dons, who couldn’t turn their dominance into three points.

The results means the Dons finish their debut League One campaign in a healthy 15 place.

But how did the Wimbledon players perform on Saturday? Here’s our ratings -

James Shea – Owes Paul Robinson a debt of gratitude after the defender’s goal-line clearance saved his after he slipped on the edge of the area chasing Lee Croft. 7

George Francomb – The star of the Latics fans’ chant of ‘he’s got a turnip on his head’ but did well going forward as well as not shirking his defensive duties from set-pieces. 7

Sean Kelly – Defensively solid but didn’t do much going forward. 7

Paul Robinson says it's not impossible that Wimbledon can make the play-offs

Paul Robinson – Great goalline clearance after Shea slipped in the 63 minute. Solid as ever at the back delivering a few crunching tackles to the Latics players. 8

Will Nightingale – Reliable at the back. Contributed a number of defensive headers and was unlucky not to get his head on an attacking corner in the first half. Looked to work well alongside the experienced heads of Dannie Bulman and Paul Robinson. 8

Dannie Bulman – Quietly pulling the strings as he does. Some great little passes and important tackles. Subbed. 8

Jake Reeves – Looking more and more like Dannie Bulman, on and off the pitch, with every game, do they share a barber? All action display. 7

Alfie Egan – Looked to be enjoying himself out there, setting up plenty of chances and exploiting gaps in the Latics’ defence. Defended well when call upon as well. Faded a little as the second half went on. 7

Andy Barcham

Andy Barcham – Was a thorn in Oldham’s side in the early stages and deserved goal after 23 minutes for his jinking run through the Latics defence, unfortunately his shot was cleared off the line. What a goal that would have been. 8

Dom Poleon – Great chance to score after 70 minutes but put the ball straight at Connor Ripley in the Oldham goal from close range. Subbed. 6

Lyle Taylor – Unlucky not to score after a ball from Egan in the first half. Really lively but just couldn’t find the back of the net no matter what he tried. 8

Subs:

Egli Kaja (on for Dom Poleon, 75) – Nice, little run out. 7

Toby Sibbick (on for Dannie Bulman, 75) – You could see he was concentrating hard to avoid making a mistake for the first team but did what was asked of him well. 7
